Library Services
The libraries provide a range of services through a team of dedicated library staff. The services aim to put information within easy reach. The conventional services – reference and lending, provide the staff and students the option of either using the information resources within the library or borrowing (textbooks) them for a stipulated period of time.
Well stacked libraries with access to wide range of information resources has resulted in scholarly activities benefitting the students and the society at large through dissemination and application of information in the form of scientific & scholarly communications.
Special assistance is given on request for literature search, scientific writing of articles and citing references. The students and staff can avail the reprographic and scanning facilities in the library.
The objective of the library is not complete until the users are aware of the resources available for their use. A library induction program is conducted by the Librarians for every batch of newly joined students, PGs, and staff/faculty at the beginning of the academic year. The orientation provides an overview of the collection of the library, its services and the classification system practiced in the library. The users are given hands on training in the use of all the three categories of information sources – primary, secondary, and tertiary sources available in the library.
Workshops are conducted to educate the students, researchers, and faculty to search the various information sources and the retrieval techniques to be used. Hands-on training by service providers of the various databases are also included under these workshops.
Library and Information Services encompass a wide array of services that cater to diverse user needs . With the main purpose of serving all the stakeholders , the following services are provided by all the libraries of JSS AHER to enable users to meet their information needs.

Reference/Periodicals Services
Books section
The collection of books is for use within the library only. It consists of textbooks, reference books, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, old question papers, lab manuals, syllabus, handouts, industrial training reports, theses, books on law education, psychology, philosophy etc.
Periodicals section
The collection of scientific journals, both print and online and a back volume collection in print is for use within the library only
Circulation Services
Book Borrowing

The collection of books is for borrowing out of the library for a specified time.

The collection contains all the textbooks and important reference books.

It also has a collection of books on fiction, biographies, etc both in English and in Kannada.
Overnight borrowing
Books from the reference section, which are not available in the lending section may be borrowed one hour prior to the closing time of the library everyy day and they should be returned within one hour of opening the library the next working day. This service is only for the post graduate students.
Please note that reference sources like dictionaries, encyclopaedias, monographs and rare/expensive books are not lent out under this service.
General Reading
This section has a collection of newspapers/magazines for use within the library. It has general collection of books both in English and Kannada which can be borrowed out of the library.
Reprography

Reprography facilities namely photocopying and scanning is available for the members of the library

Only those materials that are not lent out of the library can be photocopied.
Inter library Services
This service is provided on request. The information sources of the libraries of all the constituent colleges/Departments of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research can be accessed. For further details contact the Librarian of your respective institution/department.
General Services
Private Study Zone

A serene and spacious hall of the library provides conducive atmosphere for extensive reading.

The personal books are allowed inside the section

The general discipline of the library are to be followed in this section also.
Book Bank
The library lend books for the economically backward students for the whole academic year. For details contact your respective Librarian.
